Uncharted (2022) Review

Uncharted will be released worldwide in February 2022. This movie is based on the PlayStation game series of the same name. The first game in the series, called Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, was released back in 2007. Since then, the story of Nathan Drake became famous all over the world. On the background of the popularity of the game series, Columbia Pictures began to shoot a full-length adventure film with a big budget. The Uncharted movie was originally planned to be released in 2021. However, the release was postponed several times.

Storyline

Uncharted is a feature film about the main characters of the game series, Nathan Drake and Sully Sullivan. The main character Nathan is the descendant of a legendary pirate who hunted for treasure. Now Nathan has to solve several riddles and find Eldorado. There are several narrative lines at the center of the story. Among them is the love story of the main character, the search for his once-lost sibling, and the unraveling of mankind’s greatest mysteries. The plot of this film resembles other Columbia Pictures adventure projects like Lara Croft.

The development of this film took a very long time. The film adaptation of the Nathan Drake story was first talked about in 2008. The company-developer of this series of games Naughty Dog even then sold the rights to the film adaptation. However, for a long time, the project was not started because of changes in the plot and the search for actors, directors and other team members.

The storyline of the game and the movie is quite bright and intense. According to the script of the motion picture, Nathan discovers in the coffin of a relative a key that will lead him to the cherished treasure of Eldorado in the Pacific Ocean. A young treasure hunter-adventurer goes there at once, along with his companion. We can only hope that the movie “Uncharted” will turn out to be a no-nonsense, bright and spectacular.

• The locations of the caves and ancient tombs were prepared at the film studio;
• The last scenes were shot in October 2020;
• Film company halted filming for a while because of the COVID-19 pandemic;
• The movie company signed an advertising contract with Hyundai Motor Group. This means that the movie will feature mostly cars of that brand.

We also found out that the movie’s plot is based on the fourth part of the game Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. In this part, the action takes place a few years before the other parts of the game. That’s why the main characters are younger than their prototypes in the fifth part of the game.

Actors

A special feature of this film is its cast. As we wrote at the beginning of the article, this movie was planned for a very long time and its cast changed several times. However, in the final version the team turned out to be very dynamic, bright and famous.

The main role in Uncharted is played by Tom Holland. This young actor is perfect for the role of adventurer. After all, the plot takes us back to the past during the main character’s youth. Therefore, the directors were looking for a young, talented and popular actor. We are certain that Tom Holland will perfectly cope with the role of Nathan Drake.

The second main character in the film is Mark Wahlberg. He is known for various movies, including Max Payne, Planet of the Apes, The Departed and many others. In Uncharted, Mark will play the role of Victor Sullivan, nicknamed “Sully”. This character is Drake’s soulmate in the treasure hunt, his mentor and the man Drake treats like a father.

An equally important role in the film was played by Sophia Taylor Ali. This is a popular American actress who managed to star in several movies during her short career. She is only 26 years old. She plays the role of the main character’s lover. Together, they will have to fight the criminals who want to steal the treasure and kill Nathan Drake.

Other famous actors also star in the film. Among them are Antonio Banderas and Tati Gabrielle. That’s why the Uncharted adaptation will be bright and hot. We are sure it will be!

Conclusion

Uncharted game has a great popularity among PS3, PS4 and PS5 players. That’s why the creators of the film have combined all the advantages and features of the game. We have seen several trailers and photos from the set. We already know that the storyline is very dynamic, colorful and dramatic. Definitely, this film will have a sequel. Since the story of Nathan Drake is not yet complete.
